Reflections on the 2020 U.S. election

We are publishing the note that CEO Maria Colacurcio sent today to Syndio employees about the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

Dear Syndio Team:

As millions of Americans head to the polls today under unprecedented conditions, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the significance of this election. This is the most high-stake presidential election in recent memory. With a backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as social, climatic, and economic upheaval, many of us may feel unsettled as we await the results. This is a time to lean on your community, including the Syndio team, and to prioritize self-care.

I take heart in the important milestone that this year marks — 2020 is the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Over the last century, women have broken countless glass ceilings. But many inequalities persist, especially in the workplace. And we know that as a result of the pandemic, many women and minorities risk backsliding in their careers. What better way to honor our country’s largest expansion of democracy than by exercising the right to vote in this election.

There will be plenty of time in the months to come to assess the impact of the election on our business and issues of inequality. While today is a critical moment in time, we are driving toward progress that will be measured over decades. It’s more important than ever that we focus on our mission to eradicate pay disparities and advance workplace fairness for all.

Your voice matters! Go vote, even if you need to take some time off to do so.
